Description

The Quinta do Monte d'Oiro Branco is a blend of Viognier, Arinto & Marsanne. The grapes come from a vineyard in the Lisboa appellation of clay and limestone. The fermentation takes place in INOX tanks, after which the juice matures for 5 months 'sur lie' in the INOX tanks. Predominant aromas of citrus, apple and white flowers. The taste is flawless with elegant notes of ripe white fruit and ends with a refreshing aftertaste. A perfect wine with seafood, fish, poultry. The wine always has around 90/100 Parker points, which is unique for a wine from this price range. The Wine Advocate (Parker) ends his review with "This is a reliable bargain these days that can age a bit, and perhaps better than anticipated"

This wine region in Portugal, about 50 kilometers north of Lisbon, has been known for its great terroir since the 17th century. In the 1980s, Quinta do Monte d'Oiro came into the hands of José Bento dos Santos, originally an industrial chemical engineer. He combines his passion for quality wine and gastronomy and has received many awards in both areas, both at home and abroad. The 20 hectares of vineyard are organically farmed. Naturally, local grape varieties have been planted such as Touriga Nacional and Arinto, but also the best global varieties such as Petit Verdot and Tempranillo (tinta roriz). The influence of the Atlantic Ocean and the limestone and clay soils give this area its unique terroir. Graça Gonçalves learned winemaking from her father, among others, and played a major role in the switch to organic production at Quinta do Monte d'Oiro.
