Arinto is part of Riberio-Moser, the collaboration of two great winemakers - Pedro Riberio and Lenz Mozer, with the clear aim of showing the world how beautiful Portuguese white wine can be. If these two icons interfere, then this is a clear signal. This wine was born in July 2023.
The Ribeiro & Moser Arinto is made entirely from the Arinto grape - a variety native to Portugal. Arinto is highly regarded for its ability to produce wines with lively acidity and a distinctly refreshing character. Arinto may be descended from Riesling. It is an important late maturing white top cultivar. Characteristic of Arinto is that this grape can retain its acidity in the sweltering hot summers.
This Arinto wine is fermented and aged in concrete tanks, with 10% of the wine fermented and aged in 500 liter oak barrels. Ribeiro-Moser is committed to reducing their environmental impact and does so by reducing the weight of their bottles. It has been proven by many reputable studies that by reducing the weight of the bottle from an average of 570g to 360g, it has a significant positive impact on the environment. Emissions are reduced by saving energy and raw materials.
The Ribeiro & Moser Arinto has a light straw yellow color. It has a very nice acidity followed by a honeyed feel. Attractive lemon, green apple, a peachy fruitiness and a hint of minerality on the nose. It has a nice firmness in the mid-palate with a lot of zest while retaining its elegance and balance. This elegant high end Arinto has excellent storage potential.
Pedro Ribeiro is the winemaker and general manager of Herdade do Rocim winery - with a winemaking philosophy based on minimal intervention. The aim is for each wine to reflect the sense of place and terroir in the bottle. Lenz Moser has always been fascinated with making typical terroir wines and autochthonous grapes more internationally known. Recently he has also done this with the New Chapter (Grüner Veltiner in Burgundy style) which in a very short time has already become a worldwide success with very high reviews from the international wine press. This will certainly happen with this Ribeiro & Moser Arinto.
