2021 Jose Pariente Verdejo Ferm Barrique Ecologico BIO
José Pariente verdejo is one of the best Verdejo wines from Rueda and only a limited number of bottles of this Fermentado and Barrica are produced each year (approximately 4000 bottles). The Fermentado en Barrica is a Verdejo fermented in an oak barrel. Due to the education on wood, the Verdejo gets a nice combination of notes of tobacco and white flowers. The taste is medium-bodied, dry, with good acidity and "bite". It has a good balance between fruit and wood. Wonderfully fresh but with depth and complexity.
Jose Pariente, the winery founded by Victoria Pariente in 1988, is the 'instigator' of making absolute quality wines in the Rueda. This is one of his showpieces. This innovative white wine offers a revealing look at the possibilities of the Verdejo variety, through a rigorous selection of grapes from an old vineyard and vinification in oval concrete tanks. A great wine, an unusual depth and complexity among white wines.
The grapes come from a vineyard of more than 35 years old with very low yields. Strict selection of the grapes with (very) aggressive pruning. The wine goes into egg-shaped concrete tanks, the shape of which takes care of temperature differences and a natural flow. Then the wine gets a wood education on French oak (new and 2nd year barrels) for 7 months and then another 5 months on stainless steel.
