As one of the first Ribera del Duero high-end wine companies, Emilio Moro recognized early on the potential of the noble grape de Godello and the Bierzo region and in 2016 the white wines of Emilio Moro - the El Zarzal and the La Revelia saw their light and from a new member was added at the end of 2020, namely the Polvorette. Many large wineries now also have a Bierzo vineyard so that they can also make beautiful white wines. Examples are eg Matarromera and Mauro.
Of course, this new Polvorete is also based on the noble grape Godello coming from their vineyards located in the Bierzo.
The godello grapes are fermented at a controlled low temperature in stainless steel deposits and then matured further on soy yeasts (sur lie). In the glass, the Polvorette has a fresh straw yellow color, pure, clear and with a medium intensity. This delightful white wine is very expressive on the nose with notes of fresh white flowers and white and yellow fruit. The passage through the mouth is fresh and persistent, but without losing the balanced acidity typical of the variety. The Polvorete is a wine born to make the wonders of the Godello grape known all over the world. A wine full of joy, youth and fun, which you can enjoy above all with ease. Suckling ends his rating (91/100) with " ......followed by a mouthwatering finish "
Perswijn May 2022 - **** in the Galicia-Bierzo Special
" Odor: open, tropical fruit, pineapple, spicy - Taste: Fresh, sour, juicy, structure, nature"
Certainly worth mentioning is the great outfit and the artistic label of this new white member of the Emilio Moro family. Domingo Zapata is the artist who designed Polvorete's label. He is from the island of Mallorca in Spain and moved to the US, NYC many years ago, where he became very famous. See also a video below showing the launch of the collaboration at Time Square in New York between Emilio Moro and Domingo Zapata
Because Emilio Moro loves the art he makes which is vibrant, passionate and colourful, they decided that Zapata would be the perfect partner for the launch of the new young playful Polvorete. Polvorete's label reflects the artist's vision of the wine.
