2019 Emilio Moro La Revelia

The 2 new white wines from Emilio Moro are the El Zarzal and the La Revelia and have seen the light of day with the 2016 vintage. Both are based on the noble grape Godello and the vineyards are located in the Bierzo. They have been working on these new (white) wines for more than 10 years in order to produce beautiful wines that suit a high-end wine company such as Emilio Moro. Many large Ribera del Duero wineries now also have a Bierzo vineyard so that they can also make beautiful white wines.

The La Revelia is also a 100% Godello coming from an elevated vineyard in the Bierzo. The La Revelia is fermented at a controlled temperature in 500 liter French oak barrels, followed by maturation sur lie in the same French oak barrels for 8 months.

The wine is light golden in color and has a very intense aroma with the typical nuances of the Godello - such as fresh stone fruit and subtle citrus and herbaceous notes. Once it develops in the glass, we can appreciate the great aromatic potential of this wine. The fruity profile takes on complexity, with aromas of dried flowers and very light toasted oak notes blending throughout. On the palate, Revelia is long, broad and well-structured, with balanced acidity. This is a wine for people who are (often rightly so) getting tired of chardonnay. This is a complex wine that has an excellent P/Q for the money and can compete with much more expensive Chardonnays.

Definitely worth mentioning is the great trim and artistic labeling of these new white members of the Emilio Moro family designed by the artist Domingo Zapata who designed all the labels and the box. David is from the island of Mallorca in Spain and moved to the US, NYC many years ago, where he became very famous.
