Description
Domaine Yvon Clerget has a rich tradition in Burgundy dating back to the 17th century. The estate was revived by Thibaud Clerget, a young and dynamic winemaker who has been at the helm since 2015. Thibaud strives for purity and precision in his wines. He works with minimal intervention in both the vineyard and the cellar to fully express the characteristics of the terroir.
Les Perrières is one of the most prestigious premier cru vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet. The name "Perrières" refers to the stony, chalky soil that contributes to the minerality and finesse of the wine.
Terroir: The soil is rich in limestone, ideal for the production of refined Chardonnay. The location on the southern slopes offers optimal sun exposure and cool nights, which ensures perfect ripening of the grapes.
The wine is fermented and matured in French oak barrels, of which approximately 20-25% is new wood. This adds a subtle spiciness and structure without overpowering the fruit. Thibaud Clerget uses natural yeasts and works with great attention to detail to preserve the expression of the terroir
Colour: Light golden yellow with a bright sheen.
Nose: Elegant aromas of white flowers, citrus (lemon and lime), ripe apple, pear and subtle notes of hazelnut and vanilla.
Taste: The wine offers a wonderful balance between freshness, power and refinement. Flavours of citrus, stone fruit and a subtle minerality are supported by a lively acidity and a silky texture.
Finish: Long and complex, with notes of toasted almonds and a refreshing minerality.
The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru 'Les Perrières' goes well with:
- Luxurious fish dishes such as turbot or sea bass.
- Shellfish, such as lobster or scallops in a creamy sauce.
- Poultry with a subtle lemon or butter sauce.
- Mature cheeses such as Comté or Chaource.
FACT: The wine is in our conditioned Wine Warehouse and if you come to pick up the wine you will also receive a nice discount. You will see your discount immediately when you choose Pick up in Checkout page. We are almost next to the Rijksweg with plenty of parking. Click here for our address.

A small but influential estate in Burgundy with a story that goes back centuries.
Yvon Clerget winery in Burgundy
Traveling through the Côte de Beaune inevitably brings you to Volnay. A village known for refined red wines, often lighter and more elegant than its neighbor Pommard. This is where the family estate Yvon Clerget is based. Its history reaches back to the 13th century, but only in recent decades has it truly come alive again. When Thibaud Clerget took over in 2015, he breathed new energy into the vineyards and quickly placed the wines among the very best of the region.
The history of Domaine Clerget
The Clerget family story is deeply rooted in Burgundy. Since 1268, generations have worked these vineyards. In the 20th century, the wines became less visible, often sold through négociants. That changed when Yvon Clerget, and later his son Thibaud, decided to bottle again under their own name. With the 2015 vintage, Thibaud released his first wines, making an immediate mark: pure, lively, and with a clear character that fits perfectly with the terroirs of Volnay, Pommard, and Meursault.
Vineyards and terroir
Domaine Clerget owns parcels in some of the most respected lieux-dits of the Côte de Beaune. Think of Premier Cru vineyards in Volnay such as Carelle sous la Chapelle and Clos du Verseuil. The soils are mainly limestone and clay, often with a thin top layer and plenty of stone. This combination produces wines that are elegant and aromatic, yet deep enough to age beautifully. Beyond Volnay, the estate also holds plots in Pommard and Meursault, giving a focused yet diverse portfolio.
Climate and style
Burgundy is known for its relatively cool continental climate. Warm summers, cold winters, and sometimes challenging spring frosts. This mix is what creates tension and freshness in the wines. In the cellar, Thibaud Clerget prefers a gentle approach: little extraction, limited oak aging, and letting the vineyard character speak. The result is open, refined wines with a fine balance of fruit and structure.
Interesting facts about Domaine Clerget
- - The family history stretches back over 700 years, rare even for Burgundy.
- - Before returning to Volnay, Thibaud Clerget worked in Oregon, New Zealand, and the Rhône Valley.
- - Production is very small, sometimes just a few hundred bottles per cuvée.
- - The wines are sought after worldwide, yet remain firmly rooted in their village origins.
