Description
One of the most famous wineries in Baden is Weingut Salwey. The winery is especially appreciated for its phenomenal wines from Grau-, Weiß and Spätburgunder, which are all among the best wines in Germany. Another specialty is the Weissherbst (rosé type) from Spätburgunder and Riesling. The history of the winery goes back to the middle of the 18th century, with Weingut Salwey remaining unchanged in family hands and still located at its original location in Kaiserstuhl, Baden.
The total vineyard management covers 39 hectares with vineyard properties in: Oberrotweiler Kirchberg, Eichberg, Henkenberg and the Glottertaler Eichberg. A new cellar in Niederrotweil provides the much-needed air and space for the planned expansion of 10 hectares of vineyard. Weingut Salwey is a member of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter), which includes the best wineries in Germany.
In contrast to many delicate Pinot Blanc wines from Alsace, Weissburgunder Kabinett Trocken is a wine with ageing potential! In the glass, the wine has a pale, straw-yellow colour. The aroma is sultry with nuances of almond and honey. Creamy, finely fruity flavour with citrus and pineapple fruit. The finish ends nicely dry and lasts a long time thanks to the beautiful fruit acids. A delicious glass and an excellent accompaniment to a quiche or grilled fish dishes.
