2020 Weingut Pfaffl Pinot Noir Reserve

In 1978, Roman and Adelheid Pfaffl became owners of Weingut Pfaffl at a young age in Stetten, a village just north of Vienna in the Weinviertel - Lower Austria region. Before 1978, the Pfaffl farm was dominated by the cultivation of grains, potatoes and the rearing of cows and pigs. A lot has changed in a short time and Pfaffl is currently one of the highest peaks in Austria. Pfaffl was named Best Austrian Producer in 2022 by the Frankfurt International Trophy. Earlier this year they received the same award from Mundus Vini. At Parker (the Wine Advocate) they belong to the highest scoring producer with their entire range.

The Pinot noir grapes come from the vineyard 'Herrenholz' in the Wien appellation. Crater-shaped vineyard, where it can get warm. Soils of sandy loam and flysch. This combination creates refined, elegant Pinot Noir. Aging in barrique for 18 months. This Pinot Noir has aromas of forest floor, strawberries, cherries with spicy notes. This Austrian one is extremely elegant and fruity.
