2022 Spier Chardonnay Pinot Noir Signature Rosé

For the Signature Rosé, Spier works with a mix of two classy grapes: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. A combination that is also used, for example, to make Rosé Champagne. But it is also an ideal combination for 'more ordinary' wines, such as this mild rosé. The Chardonnay gives the wine roundness and delicious white fruit, the Pinot Noir provides the beautiful pink color and the necessary acidity and firmness. The grapes are harvested in cool conditions, early in the morning, in ten kilo boxes. They are immediately cooled back to preserve the fruit. Fermentation takes place at a low temperature, between 12-14 degrees, again for the fruit. Ripening on the lie ensures a nice rich character. Delicious rosé, which proves that beautiful and subtle rosé can also be made in South Africa.

In the glass, the Spier rosé has a light salmon pink color. In the nose the wine is fragrant, pear and melon, peach, citrus, strawberries, white nectarine and in the mouth the wine is ripe and soft fruity, citrus, good acidity, easy, little sweetness, very mild. Fruity, mild-dry rosé. This beautiful rosé is an excellent aperitif, great with a schnitzel, smoked salmon, mussels with garlic sauce, salads.
