Müller's 2019 Wiltinger Braune Kupp Riesling Kabinett opens with a bright, ripe and finely slatey bouquet. Round and lush on the palate, this is a medium-bodied, mouth-filling, charming and balanced Kupp Kabinett with ripe, elegant, crystalline and salty acidity and fine grip on the aromatic, well-structured finish. The 2019 already drinks dangerously well as an aperitif, but it is made to be cellared and then served with food in about 15-20 years. 9.5% alcohol. Tasted from AP 2-20 in June 2020.
Egon Müller has bottled an exceptional series of Rieslings from the Braune Kupp in Wiltingen. Rarely have I tasted these wines when they were on nearly the same level as the Scharzhofbergers, which are far more expensive. Buying the 2019s from Le Gallais is a must this year for all true Riesling aficionados. But you better hurry up because the yields were ridiculously low.
