From: Thrice Is Nice: Bordeaux 2020 in Bottle (Feb 2023)
The 2020 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron contains the Petit Verdot that was previously blended with the Les Tourelles. This has an intense nose with graphite and chalk-tinged black fruit, touches of black olive compote emerging with time, all with wonderful delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm and saturated tannins, very pure, precise and poised. Gentle grip with a lively, citrus-fresh finish, and hints of blue fruit on the aftertaste.

The 2020 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is a powerful, concentrated wine. Dark and sumptuous in the glass, with terrific textural intensity, Les Griffons exudes charm. Black cherry, espresso, licorice, cloves, chocolate and menthol infuse the 2020 with tons of character. All the elements are impeccably balanced throughout in this Pauillac from gravelly soils.

Château Pichon Longueville Baron is a renowned winery located in Pauillac, Bordeaux. The estate is classified as a second growth (Deuxième Cru) in the official Bordeaux wine classification of 1855, a testament to its historical significance and the quality of its wines.
History of Château Pichon Longueville Baron
The history of Château Pichon Longueville Baron dates back to the 17th century, when it was part of a larger estate known as Château Pichon Longueville. The latter came into the hands of Baron Joseph de Pichon Longueville, giving the estate its distinctive name. Over the years, the estate has changed hands several times and has undergone various improvements and expansions. At the end of the 19th century, the Miailhe family acquired the estate, and they remained stewards of the castle for generations.
