Description
In 1953, Chateau Olivier was classified for both red and white because of its top terroir. The 2020 Chateau Olivier Rouge is a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot. The merlot comes from a vineyard located on gravel where the cabernet sauvignon vineyard grows more on a clay soil. In the glass, the Chateau Olivier is dark purplish red with a nose of crunchy fruit with some spicy spicy notes such as ripe red berries and black cherry compote with forest soil and scorched cedar. What always stands out in Chateau Olivier's wines is the freshness of the wine and its a Bordeaux which is already extremely good to drink in its younger years and has an extremely pleasant price for a Grand Cru Classé

Although the history of Château Olivier dates back to the 12th century, Château Olivier as we know it today was designed by the Bethmann family. The Bethmann family is one of the oldest Bordeaux families and has been the proud owners of Château Olivier since 1886.
It is the many innovations and the vision of the Bethmann family, which constantly moves with the times, that have allowed Château Olivier to receive its classification as Grand Cru Classé de Graves in 1953 for both its red and white wines. The approximately 50 hectares of vineyards of Château Olivier are located about 11 kilometers south of the city of Bordeaux and are on average 20 years old. These older vines provide more concentrate and depth to the wines. To this day, Château Olivier's vineyards are harvested by hand and transported in small crates to the cellar, where they are carefully selected for ripeness and quality.
