ABOUT L'EGLISE CLINET
L'Eglise Clinet is a prestigious winery in the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux, France. It is known for producing some of the most sought after and highly regarded wines in the world. L'Eglise Clinet's vineyards cover approximately 4.2 hectares and are situated on the famous clay and gravel soils of Pomerol. These soils are ideal for growing Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the estate's main grape varieties. It is also relevant to note that L'Eglise Clinet's vineyards border those of Chateau Petrus so where L'Eglise Clinet stops Petrus begins. L'Eglise Clinet is located in the heart of Pomerol, a small but highly renowned wine region on the right bank of the Dordogne River. The winery has a rich history dating back to the 19th century. The vineyard was formed in its current form in the mid-20th century by the Mauléon and Rouchut families.

The 2020 La Petite Eglise reveals aromas of sweet cherries and berries mingled with petals and loamy soil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated palate that's rather firm and serious this year. It will reward patience. Only 4,500 bottles were produced from dedicated parcels.

Lots of blackberries and blueberries with crushed stone and cement aromas and flavors. Medium- to full-bodied with polished tannins that are lightly chewy and tensioned. Long and flavorful. Needs four to five years to soften. Best after 2027.

From: Bordeaux 2020: Saving the Best for Last (Feb 2023)
The 2020 La Petite Eglise is another stellar wine in this range from the Durantou family. A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the Petite Eglise offers all the signatures of the Grand Vin, but in a more accessible style, never a bad thing. Crushed flowers, red berry fruit, mint, blood orange, spice and pomegranate infuse the 2020 with layers of complexity and dimension. Deep and yet light on its feet, the 2020 is so expressive today. Bright saline notes extend the sculpted, dynamic finish. Terrific

La Petite Eglise is once again fabulous in 2020. Elegant, silky and wonderfully nuanced, the 2020 hits all the right notes. This is the first vintage that includes fruit from a recently replanted plot near the winery. All the elements are impeccably balanced from start to finish. Quite frankly, La Petite Eglise is better than many top wines in Pomerol. Pretty floral and spice notes add delicacy to the perfumed finish.
