The Pinot Grigio grape variety, also known as Grauburgunder or Pinot Gris, is currently the most widely grown white wine variety in Alto Adige/Friuli. The places subject to Mediterranean influences around Magrè and Salorno have predominantly calcareous soils with a high sand and gravel content and are perfect for cultivating this grape variety of the noble Pinot family.
Russolo's wines are characterized by a ripeness and digestibility that is appreciated worldwide. Special, partly because of the diversity in grapes and taste. Rino Russolo makes wines northeast of Venice in the plain of Friuli, which is called Grave. The wines are highly sought after (nowadays also in Italy itself, supported by high valuations in the Gambero Rosso), so that only a limited amount comes to the Netherlands.
The Russolo ronco Calaj Pinot Grigio is bright straw yellow in color with a light golden sheen. In the nose there are powerful, lively and pronounced aromas of fresh bread, acacia, ripe fruit (peach, melon) and minerals. The wine has a full, rich taste. Very juicy but also very fresh and good acidity.
Wonderful wine with starters with (white) meat or fish and delicious with dishes with shellfish, sea fish, pâtés and terrines, poultry, white meat and mushrooms.
