Description
Grape varieties and vinification The absolute 'king' of this area, made from only the very best grapes from exceptionally good harvests. Hand harvested and selected, after which these grapes are left to dry for several months, with the result that much of the moisture in the grapes evaporates and the grapes are therefore very rich in sugars. The very best and ripest Corvina grapes supplemented with a little Rondinella and Sangiovese. After fermentation, the wine matures for 4 years in Slavic oak barrels and then for another 12 months in the bottle. Tasting note Magisterial smell and taste sensation! The Amarone has an impressive elegance with ripe fruit in the center and an inviting bouquet. The Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Sergio Zenato has a deep ruby red color in the glass with beautiful notes of aromatic herbs. On the palate the powerful, warm and rich flavor influences, including wild cherries and chocolate, are impressive. A fantastic wine with roasted meat, grilled steak and mature cheeses. Serve it with a piece of Fiorentina - success guaranteed.

Released with numbered bottles, the Zenato 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Sergio Zenato (in a heavy glass bottle with 9,000 of them made) is a thickly statured and rich red wine with lots of fruit weight, big intensity and a powerful 16.5% alcoholic content. The wine is redolent of ripe and dark fruit, and there are plenty of savory and smoky notes as well. The tannins are soft and dusty.
In 2020, Zenato celebrated its 60th birthday from its Peschiera del Garda headquarters. This winery's long history started off with its production of the locally grown Trebbiano di Lugana grape and expanded years later to include red wines made with the appassimento process.

Dense garnet, with a nose of walnut husks, toasted black pepper, sour cherries and ash. Smooth and soft on the palate, with a full body and ripe, silky tannins balanced by zesty acidity. Lovely fruit with an extremely long, nutty aftertaste. Very attractive. Drink now.

From: Veneto: A Constant State of Evolution (Feb 2024)
The 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Sergio Zenato takes the finesse and airy lift of the vintage and marries it with the opulence of the Zenato style. Sweet spices, incense, sugar-dusted cherries, cloves and mint form a seductive bouquet. It’s surprisingly feminine and juicy in character, with a core of tart wild berry fruits complicated by hints of cedar and rosy inner florals that form toward the close. The 2018 finishes spicy and long, with only the slightest tug of fine tannins and a pleasantly tart sensation that puckers the cheeks. This is an atypical Riserva Sergio Zenato, yet it's no less enjoyable. That said, I would prefer to drink it sooner rather than later.
