2018 Hermanos Vina Sastre Crianza

A beautiful red wine produced with respect for nature and wine (and wine lovers). Vina Sastre's philosophy is clear: “Create a small production with extreme care.” The cultivation of the vineyards has been ecological since the beginning, based on the idea that the quality of the soil and the individuality of each grape vine are present in the wine. The whole process is natural - no mineral fertilizers are used, nor any inorganic pesticides or chemical products.

The grapes of Sastre Crianza come from specific vineyards along the Duero river, located at an altitude of 800m. The sticks are between 20 and 60 years old. The grapes are harvested manually, which allows for a very careful selection. Upon arrival in the cellar, they are destemmed and gently pressed, after which juice and skins undergo alcoholic fermentation and further maturation. After removing the skins, the wine rests further until it undergoes its lactic acid fermentation. Finally, the wine matures for 14 months in French and American oak barrels (225l).

In the glass, the wine is intense cherry red with a hint of violet. On the nose, the Sastre Crianza has a complex nose with aromas of black fruit, followed by tobacco, vanilla and spices. In the mouth, this medium to full bodied wine is very pleasant and somewhat creamy with a smooth attack marked by black fruit, followed by powerful balanced tannins. Complex, full-bodied wine with a lot of potential.
