Description
One of the best representatives of the Spanish sparkling wine, the Cava. Made in Sant Sadurní by an authentic family winery with only focus on quality. This cava is made from the Catalan trilogy namely Xarello, Macabeo and Parellada with a small percentage of Chardonnay, which further enhances the elegance. The 2nd fermentation is in the bottle, so traditional method, 60 months 'sur lattes', dosage of 8 g / l.
Straw yellow in colour. Fine mousse. Fresh appley in aroma and taste. Light tones of ripe fruit, due to the maturation in bottle, mild acidity, somewhat nutty and a pleasantly round mouthfeel. Lots of flavour and healthy dry on the finish. This is a sparkling top Cava that in terms of quality and price leaves many significantly more expensive Champagnes far behind. Absolute top quality as you may expect from the house Gramona
ABOUT CORPINNAT
Gramona is part of Corpinnat which was founded in 2016 Corpinnat by a number of (high-end) producers who have distanced themselves from DO Cava mainly because in the CAVA model no distinction can be made in quality. Corpinnat is therefore just like Cava (or Champagne) a sparkling wine that is made via the method traditionelle, so by a second fermentation in the bottle and this creates the bubbles and this is therefore a brand name founded by a number of quality producers who wanted to distinguish themselves With Corpinnat as a protected brand (like a Grandcru or a Grande Reserva) not only the region determines the naming but also the terroir and that is much more than just the area; it is also about climate, grape varieties, the vineyard and the winery.

The 2016 Brut Imperial, their flagship sparkling wine, comes from a very dry and warm year, and the wine is open. It was produced with 47.5% Xarel.lo, 30% Macabeo, 15% Parellada and 7.5% Chardonnay that matured in bottle for 64 months. All Corpinnat wines have on the back labels the disgorgement date and the months spent sur lie. These are very traditional wines, where they have implemented very, very few changes, and now with Corpinnat, they have reduced the percentage of Chardonnay. It was adjusted to 7.75 grams of sugar that feels quite integrated and softens the sharp personality of the wine. This is certified organic, and in the future, it will also be certified by Demeter. 550,000 bottles produced.
Gramona has celebrated its 100 anniversary of the Gramona label, but they started earlier (in 1881) with other brands. Today, they have 65 hectares of organic and biodynamic vineyards certified by Demeter (from 2011, so not all wines are still certified, but they will be) and 130 more hectares from the association Alianzas por la Tierra. They produce 650,000 bottles of Corpinnat sparkling wines (Cava in the past). There is a new sparkling wine from Gramona, Innoble, a non-vintage blend. They are one of the leading quality producers of sparkling wine from Spain.

The very dynamic family business Gramona has existed since 1881, currently the 5th generation of mainly 150 ha own vineyards makes formidable sparkling wines. Traditional, but using modern technology. Since the opening of the new Bodega in 2006 just outside the village, Gramona is also technically completely ready for the coming years. In a Research and Development program, research is conducted at a very high level into climate change, ecological viticulture, sustainability and everything related to the formation and preservation of the mousse. The oenologist Jaume Gramona, who runs the company with his cousin Xavier, teaches at the University of Tarragona. Gramona has a low yield per hectare for Cava producers. In the summer, a green harvest is done, with an excess of bunches being cut away. The company makes its own yeasts and liqueur d'expédition in a more than a hundred years old solera system. Gramona's stock is about 1.5 million bottles. The Cava market is dominated by large houses with huge volumes. Top companies like Gramona have a completely different philosophy and work exclusively on quality. Currently, they have three locations in Sant Sadurni for the production of their wines.
Gramona is, first and foremost, always concerned with maximum quality in the wines and champagnes. This aim is reflected in every moment and in every step of the process (pruning, harvesting, production, selection). This ethos is conveyed in the coat of arms: "Viti, Vini, Vitae": the vine, wine, life, a synthesis of our history. As a company with a long tradition , respect for the area and nature is of paramount importance. At Gramona they use the exceptional terroir and the experience in the traditional production ("Champenois") to produce high-quality and, above all, very elegant Cavas.
