Description
The Sierra Cantabria Reserva Unica offers excellent value for money. It is a full-bodied, complex red wine. The Reserva Unica spent 24 months in French oak Bordelaise barrels (60%) and American oak Bordelaise barrels (40%), 30% new oak, and 70% barrels no older than three years. It is primarily Tempranillo with a small percentage of Graciano. Bottled without filtration, it is an excellent wine from vineyards over 30 years old, located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra (La Rioja). All Sierra Cantabria wines are produced using sustainable farming practices.
The Sierra Cantabria Reserva Unica is a bright ruby red in the glass. Expressive aromas of currant, cherry, and licorice. Juicy on the palate, with flavors of red fruit blended with toasted vanilla and underlying mineral notes. The nose is filled with notes of tobacco, licorice, vanilla, blackcurrant, and black cherry. This full-bodied wine still has light tannins on the palate. The perfect acidity extends the long, spicy, floral finish. This wine is still young and will continue to improve in the coming years. The Spanish winery Sierra Cantabria was founded in 1957 by Guillermo Eguren. This Reserva Unica is therefore one of the finest wines from the Hermanos Eguren collection.

The 2018 Reserva Única was produced with Tempranillo and 3% Graciano fermented destemmed with indigenous yeasts selected from their vineyards and matured in oak barrels, 60% French and 40% American, for 24 months, including malolactic. The wines from 2018 are more delicate, have very good precision and feel fresh but have structure and balance and incisive tannins, and this is a very good example of it. This has 13.9% alcohol and 5.92 grams of acidity, showcasing a year of lower alcohol (most wines from 2018 are below 14%) and higher acidity. It should age nicely despite the fact that with time in the glass, it develops some herbal notes. 20,256 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2021.

The Spanish winery Sierra Cantabria was founded in 1957 by Guillermo Eguren and is one of Hermanos Eguren's beautiful wineries. Sierra Cantabria is located in the Rioja in a unique location between the River Ebro and the Sierra Cantabria mountain range. The Sierra Cantabria Mountains (1200m.) And the River Ebro (350m.) Provide a special microclimate with Mediterranean and continental features - mild winters and mild summers, unique to wine growing.
On the other hand, the thermal summer jump (intense heat during the day with fresh night temperatures) increases the polyphenol content, which makes for excellent quality wines with a distinctive character.
The vineyards of Bodega Sierra Cantabria are mainly located in the towns of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Labastida and Laguardia, an area very well known for wine growing.
The Tempranillo variety predominates, along with small amounts of Garnacha, Viura and 'Hairy Tempranillo', all of which are grown in vineyards about 35 years old, although there are also plots up to 70 years old.The harvest is carried out by hand every year, paying special attention to the rigorous selection of the grapes that are the soul of the wine, in optimal condition and in perfect ripening conditions. The careful harvest is followed by a thorough separation of the bunches, which is done on a selection table at the entrance of the winery. Winemaking is aimed at minimal intervention in the winery to fully respect the character of the terroir
