The 2017 Numanthia is very balanced and serious with well integrated oak and a soft palate with round tannins. It fermented with selected yeasts and matured for 18 months in 225 and 600 liter French oak barrels, 60% of which are new. The bouquet shows great fruit concentration and clarity. The aromatics are almost Medoc-like. The taste is full-bodied with intense tannins but it has a silky smooth texture. The taste is warm but also very fresh and there is real attack in the mid-mouth area with hints of graphite. This wine should be on the wish list (and very high) of every Toro enthusiast.
FACT: Numanthia belonged to the wineries of the Eguren family (such as Sierra Cantabria, Teso la Monja) and a number of years this was bought by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.
