2016 Tesseron Estate Pym-Rae

The Tesseron Estate Pym-Rae is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc. In the glass, this Napa top is a deep garnet purple, revealing fragrant notes of candied violets, wilted roses, moist earth and black tea over a core of red and black currant, black cherries and warm blackberry plus a hint of cigar box and camphor oil. Medium to full bodied with a rock solid structure of fruit on the palate, fine grained tannins beautifully supporting the elegant red and black fruit layers and ending very long and very perfumed.

The 2016 is the first harvest of this estate after the purchase of the old Robin Williams vineyard by the owner of Chateau Pontet-Canet, Alfred Tesseron in 2016. The estate includes just under 20 hectares of ripe Cabernet Sauvignon (75%), Merlot (18%) and Cabernet Franc (7%) vines, planted in 1990. Now officially called "Pym-Rae", respecting the original name Robin Williams gave the vineyard (Pym and Rae are the middle names of two of Williams' children). The vineyards are located high at an average elevation of 500 meters on Mount Veeder.
