Description
Valentin and Enciso have over 33 years of experience and background in Rioja and by combining their first names the name Valenciso was born. Founded in 1998, Valenciso is located in Ollauri, just 4 km from Haro in the heart of Rioja Alta. Valenciso aims to express the elegance and delicacy of Northern Tempranillo and focuses on producing premium, unique and elegant Tempranillos. Valenciso makes its difference by integrating organic and biodynamic practices in the vineyard, fermenting in concrete vats and aging the wine only in French oak barrels.
The Valenciso Reserva 10 Years (Anos Despues) is a 100% pure Tempranillo from the calcareous soils around Haro in the Rioja Alta. At CompañÃa Bodeguera de Valenciso, quality is deliberately chosen over quantity, so aggressive pruning takes place (yield only 38hl per hectare). This unique project in Rioja Alta initially had only one goal; making one wine from only Tempranillo and then bringing an excellent Rioja Reserva to the market. The grapes are harvested manually. The wine is only bottled 10 years after the harvest. Fermentation for 60 months in concrete vats. Maturation 40 months in wooden barrels, so a total of 10 years, also explains the title of this unique Rioja. This 2014 will therefore not be available until the end of 2024.

Wijnhuis
Winemakers with over 25 years of experience in La Rioja. In 1998 they revived an old winery and gave it the name Valenciso which is a combination of the two surnames (Valentin and Enciso). The vineyards and bodega are located in Ollauri, 4 km from Haro in the north of La Rioja Alta. An area that differs from the rest of the Rioja by a climate with Atlantic influences and Mediterranean heat. The vineyards are located on a clay-calcareous terroir, so ideal for growing grapes. CompañÃa Bodeguera de Valenciso works on a small scale and authentic with a lot of passion. The wine continues to receive international high ratings with 90+ ratings from Penin and Parker.
