Description
At Compañía Bodeguera de Valenciso. For the barrel-fermented Valenciso Blanco, they use only oak from the Caucasus, because it is believed that the fine-grained wood provides a better balance between fruit and oak. This beautiful white Rioja is a blend of 70% Viura and 30% Grenache Blanc from old vines from the villages of Villalba, Haro and Ollauri. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for six months in 20% new barrels and 80% 2nd year. This Valenciso is very elegant and balanced, true to the house style, clean, classic and very well balanced. Beautiful notes of citrus and a little fresh bread on the nose. On the nose the wine is fresh, lively with fine oak that combines very well with the fruity notes.
The wine is a good accompaniment to white meat, vegetables, cod and Asian cuisine.

The slightly darker white 2022 Fermentado en Barrica, produced with a blend of 70% Viura and 30% Garnacha Blanca, was clean, expressive, fresh, varietal and with Rioja typicity but in a more modern way, with spicy and smoky notes from the barrel and mellow freshness. It has 13.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.47. 10,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2023.

Winemakers with over 25 years of experience in La Rioja. In 1998 they revived an old winery and gave it the name Valenciso which is a combination of the two surnames (Valentin and Enciso). The vineyards and bodega are located in Ollauri, 4 km from Haro in the north of La Rioja Alta. An area that differs from the rest of the Rioja by a climate with Atlantic influences and Mediterranean heat. The vineyards are located on a clay-calcareous terroir, so ideal for growing grapes. Compañía Bodeguera de Valenciso works on a small scale and authentic with a lot of passion. The wine continues to receive international high ratings with 90+ ratings from Penin and Parker.
