History of Claus Preisinger and Burgenland

Claus Preisinger Winery is known for its organic and biodynamic approach in Burgenland, Austria. The vineyards are situated on chalky soils with a microclimate that allows for the slow, even ripening of Blaufränkisch. The family-run winery focuses on characterful wines with deep color, crisp acidity, and concentrated fruit, with each plot carefully treated to achieve the optimal expression of the terroir.

About the 2013 Claus Preisinger Pannobile

The 2013 Pannobile is Claus Preisinger's flagship wine and demonstrates how power and elegance combine in a Blaufränkisch. The wine is already impressive, but will continue to develop in the bottle over the coming years. As a natural product, wine is always evolving, making bottle-watching both exciting and enriching for the connoisseur.

Grapes, harvest and vinification of the 2013 Pannobile

This Pannobile is made from carefully selected Blaufränkisch grapes. Harvesting takes place by hand at the perfect point of ripeness. After fermentation under controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks, a longer maceration period follows, which enhances the concentration of color, aroma, and tannins. Maturation takes place in oak barrels, some new and some used, for 18 to 24 months, giving the wine a refined structure and complex flavor.

Color, aroma and taste of the 2013 Pannobile

The 2013 Claus Preisinger Pannobile has a deep ruby red color. The bouquet offers intense notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, spice, and a light hint of pepper. On the palate, the wine is rich and powerful, with fine, silky tannins and lively acidity. The long, mineral finish adds depth and balance, making this wine both immediately appealing and retaining its appeal throughout aging.

Serving tips and storage potential

This Pannobile is ready to drink now, but will reach its peak between 2023 and 2040. Serve slightly chilled between 16-18°C and decant for 30-60 minutes for optimal aroma and balance. Following a bottle over the years reveals how a natural product can develop and is therefore always a pleasant experience.

about Pannobile

Pannobile is a quality label of nine top winemakers from Gols, Burgenland (Austria), who have been collaborating since 1994 to create elegant, terroir-driven wines. The name refers to the Pannonian Plain and the noble character of their wines. Pannobile is not an official wine classification, but a strictly selected cuvée approved annually through blind tastings. Red Pannobile wines are made from Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, and St. Laurent; white versions are made from Weissburgunder, Chardonnay, and local grapes. These Austrian quality wines are typically aged in oak and combine structure with finesse. Pannobile is synonymous with craftsmanship, provenance, and collaboration in Burgenland's finest terroirs.
