2013 Champagne Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill

Pol Roger is known for producing a range of champagne styles including Brut, Extra Brut, Demi-Sec and Rosé. They are most known for their high quality, traditional champagne production methods. Pol Roger owns approximately 92 hectares of vineyards in the Champagne region, primarily located in the Vallée de la Marne, Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims. Through full ownership of the vineyards, they have control over the quality of their grapes and are able to maintain a high level of consistency in their wines.

The Sir Winston Churchill Cuvée is one of Pol Roger’s most prestigious and well-known champagne offerings. It was first introduced in 1984 as a tribute to British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, who was a great admirer of Pol Roger Champagne. Churchill was known to enjoy Pol Roger Champagne, and the house had a special bond with him. Produced in limited quantities and only in exceptional vintages, the Sir Winston Churchill Cuvée is a high-quality vintage champagne that is considered one of Pol Roger’s finest. Typically a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it undergoes extensive cellar ageing to achieve the desired complexity and elegance. Pol Roger’s dedication to quality, their historical significance and their association with iconic figures such as Sir Winston Churchill have contributed to their esteemed reputation in the world of champagne production. The 2013 Brut Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill is a fantastic champagne. Rich and remarkably pure, and extremely expressive right after opening. Bright salty notes cut through a core of candied lemon, dried flowers, apricot, tangerine peel, mint and sage. As impressive as the 2013 is now, it really needs more time to open up. The transparency in this wine is particularly appealing. The 2013 vintage is a wonderful example of power without unnecessary weight in Champagne. A magnificent wine that makes a deep impression.
