Description
History of Tenuta Sette Ponti and the Tuscan region
Tenuta Sette Ponti is nestled in the Tuscan hills, near the Etruscan Coast. The estate is known for its modern approach to classic Tuscan wines, emphasizing quality and terroir. The family that runs the estate combines traditional winemaking techniques with modern technology to produce wines that are both expressive and complex. The climate is Mediterranean, with warm summers and mild winters, ideal for the Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot grapes that form the core of the wines.
About the 2011 Tenuta Sette Ponti Oreno
The 2011 Oreno is a full-bodied, complex red wine that immediately impresses with its rich fruit character and silky smooth texture. The wine displays balanced concentration and is both expressive and accessible, making it appealing to lovers of powerful Italian wines. With the right decanting technique, the wine opens up even further, revealing its aromas and flavors to their fullest.
Grapes, harvest and vinification of the Oreno 2011
This wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. The grapes were hand-picked at the optimal point of ripeness. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks to maintain a perfect balance of fruit, tannins, and structure. The wine is then aged in new oak barrels, enhancing the intense fruit notes with subtle hints of chocolate, spice, and light toast. The result is a wine that is rich and concentrated, yet elegant and balanced.
Color, aroma and taste of the 2011 Oreno
The 2011 Oreno has a deep ruby red color with purple reflections. The bouquet reveals aromas of plums, dark berries, and blackberries, interspersed with notes of chocolate, dark spices, and a hint of leather. On the palate, the wine is rich and full-bodied, with a soft yet present structure and a long, elegant finish. The combination of ripe fruit and subtle oak gives the wine a refined complexity that captivates the drinker from the first sip to the last.
Serving tips and storage potential
The 2011 Tenuta Sette Ponti Oreno is best enjoyed between 2015 and 2025. Serve the wine at 18°C and decant for 30-60 minutes for optimal expression. Because wine is a natural product, each bottle can develop uniquely, and it's always rewarding and exciting to see how the flavors and aromas refine with age. The Oreno develops well in bottle, with its fruity notes and spicy nuances gradually deepening.

The Tenuta Sette Ponti 2018 Crognolo is mostly Sangiovese blended in with about 10% Merlot. This is a nicely balanced wine that offers the tangy freshness and acidity of the first grape ironed out and softened by that smaller percentage of the second. The wine is redolent of cherry, blackberry and plum. Its primary intensity is bright and cheerful. The finish shows pretty thickness, extraction and nicely integrated tannins.

There is a purity of fruit in this young Tuscan red, with flowers, citrus fruit and currants. Full body with firm, silky tannins that are ultra-fine and wonderfully polished. The structure builds to a racy finish. This is a Bordeaux blend that is all in harmony. Give it time: the tannins and fruit will melt together. Try in 2016.

From: Exploring the Tuscan Coast (Sep 2014)
The 2011 Oreno wraps around the palate with gorgeous resonance and silkiness. Mocha, cloves, leather and dark spices all add nuance to a core of voluptuous, racy fruit. This is a typical 2011 long on texture, resonance and early appeal. Readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off the 2011, as it is already striking. The style is ripe, intense and full-bodied, yet all the elements fall into place effortlessly.

A story of passion, dedication, and especially a great love for vineyards and their traditions. Our business philosophy is based on quality, research, long-lasting knowledge, age-old customs, respect for the land and its balance, and staying in step with genuine agricultural and enological expertise.
All these values make up a rich and complex patchwork of stories, elegant olden tales that sometimes get lost over time, like the ones our grandparents might have told us in front of a warm fireplace on cold winter nights, sharing their feelings, their attachment to the land and its sovereign rules, traditions, and a respect for past and future generations.
In 1935, Prince Amedeo of Savoy-Aosta and Viceroy of Ethiopia planted the first vineyards on his property between Florence and Arezzo to celebrate having taken over the Ethiopian Empire. Called the “Vigna dell’Impero” (Vineyard of the Empire), it is home to an ancient Sangiovese clone, which ended up being the only one of its kind. Twenty years later, it inspired Architect Alberto Moretti Cuseri to plant other vineyards and to fully dedicate himself to his passion for viticulture, giving impetus to what today is the Tenuta Sette Ponti.
In 2018, Antonio Moretti Cuseri’s children began collaborating with their father. Amedeo is the winery director and Italian market manager, and Alberto is the communications and export director. This new generation represents the company’s strong values, an expression of tradition and the great passion passed down by their father. A fresh and new vision of wine is strengthened by high-quality wines boasting an international flair, consistently gaining recognition all over the world, and becoming symbols of Italian excellence and authentic style. The Moretti Cuseri family’s wines have become mainstays in the lifestyle, fashion, and event industries as well.
