Built in Victorian style, the Château Cantenac-Brown dates from the 18th century and was awarded the status of 3rd Grand Cru Classé du Médoc in 1855. The vineyards are located near the hamlet of Cantenac in the municipality of Margaux, the name arose when the Scotsman J.L. Brown bought the property in 1826.

In the 90s of the last century, the winery came into the hands of a French insurance company, the current owner since 2006 is a Briton of Syrian origin, the Francophile Simon Halabi. The farm covers 48 hectares of vineyards. There are 8,500 to 10,000 vines per hectare with an average age of 35 years. The soil contains a lot of gravel, which ensures good drainage. In the vineyards we work as naturally as possible, they are certified. Winemaker José Sanfins has been working at the castle for quite some time. They produce three wines, Château Cantenac-Brown and, since 2001, a second wine called Brio de Cantenac Brown. Also, since 2011, a white wine called Alto de Cantenac Brown has been made. The yield per hectare is 45 hl. The average annual production of the Brio is 90,000 bottles.
