The vineyards of Vignes des Deux Soleils are located on the dry island of La Clape off the coast of Narbonne in the south of France. The vineyards enjoy a double energy supply here. During the day, the sun shines on the grapes and on the white pebbles that reflect the light on the vines and absorb the heat. At night, these warm stones give off the beneficial warmth to the grapes, which therefore benefit twice from the solar energy, hence the name Vignes des Deux Soleils. The Syrah and Merlot grapes in particular thrive in this type of vineyard. Vignes des Deux Soleils makes a series of beautiful quality wines from different grape varieties. Perhaps the most attractive and smooth cuvée is Les Romains, which is made from merlot and cabernet sauvignon. With its flavor profile of a large wine from Pomerol, this wine delivers the highest promise for real wine lovers. Empire gets its name from Roman rule. In this region 'la voie Romaine d'Aquitaine' (the old Roman connecting road from Narbonne to Bordeaux) is still a silent witness to the then great Roman empire. The cabernet sauvignon grapes from the Cuvée Réservée come from a small plot that was planted in the Les Romains vineyard in 2002. Les Deux Soleils winemakers ventured into this new investment as a counterpart to their successful, merlot-dominated wine, especially for top French restaurants.
