Description
Strydom has had an ideal place. The vineyards have very low yields and are located in cooler areas and this gives the wines of Strydom freshness, elegance and a nice acidity. The Strydom Freshdom is made by a very passionate and gifted winemakers Rianie and Louis Strydom. The grapes were picked by hand in the morning. The entire bunches are put in the fermentation vessel without crushing or breaking beforehand. The must is stirred five times a day to get optimal extraction. The total maceration lasted 16 days. Only 650L / Ton was pressed, after which the wines did the malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels.
In the glass, the Strydom Rock Star has a red color with purple hues. In the nose notes of rose scent, cedar wood, berries, strawberry, red cherries and a hint of vanilla. In the mouth the wine is medium to full bodied but also very accessible and supple. The tannins are soft, the wine smells and tastes elegant and has a refined spiciness, a little laurel and a mineral touch. The Rockstar Syrah is a beautiful wine which is an excellent accompaniment to spicy dishes such as hare pepper, wild boar, steak and hard old cheeses

Wijnhuis
Rianie and Louis Strydom are a real powerhouse couple in the South African wine scene. Winemakers at well-known Stellenbosch producers and members of the esteemed Cape Winemakers Guild, they set up their own winery as a side project in 2012.
The Strydom logo of a lion, a bee and stars represents what they are all about: family, strength, tenacity and reaching for the stars; relentlessly pursuing excellence in winemaking and life.
Rianie Strydom began her journey into wine at a young age, and a fierce passion for all things vinous grew quickly. Both Rianie and her husband Louis did a degree in Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Stellenbosch, and a Diploma at Elsenburg Agriculture College.
While Louis continues with other projects, Rianie has decided to focus solely on Strydom Vineyards. Louis still looks after the viticulture side of the business but Rianie takes charge in the winery, crafting wines that can capture their origins and the personality of where they are grown. Inspired by the great classics of Bordeaux, the Strydom Vineyards goal is to create wines that will evolve and improve for years to come.
