The Scheurebe grape is a cross between Riesling and the Bukettrebe grape. As it is one of the more popular aromatic varieties, it is well established in many German wine regions, but is also cultivated in Austria under the name Sämling 88.

What does wine from the Scheurebe grape taste like?

If you are looking for a wine with a pronounced acidity and a taste reminiscent of blackcurrant, peach and ripe pear, Scheurebe wines are the way to go. It is often fermented as a noble sweet, but also as a dry wine in Germany, which is becoming increasingly popular. The character of the grape resembles Riesling due to its origins, although it is slightly less acidic and tends to be more clumsy. Another thing that these two grapes have in common is the terroir variety.
