Furmint
Hungarian white grape, which derives its status from the wines from Tokaj. Furmint is the dominant variety there, accounting for about two-thirds of the plantings. It has naturally high acidity, but also high sugar values and is prone to noble rot. Thanks to those acids, sweet Tokaj wine has a very long lifespan. By mixing furmint with hárslevelű and muscat, this wine also has an enormous complexity. In Tokaj, dry wine is also increasingly made from only furmint.
