Rufete

Rufete is a red Spanish/Portuguese wine grape variety that you will rarely come across as a single variety, but is mainly grown for the production of port wine in the Douro region of Portugal. It can also be found along the Duero Basin across the border in Spain's province of Castile and León and can be found in Portugal's Dão DOC, where the variety is known as Tinta Pinheira. 

What does wine from the Rufete grape taste like?

In the glass, this wine gives a salmon pink light color. On the nose, this wine appears moderately intense, with lees, funky aromas of strawberry and raspberry.  On the palate, this wine exudes fresh and round aromas of red cherries, raspberries and freshly sliced strawberries.
