They are among the secret heroes of the international wine world: winemakers such as the quality-seeking Carlos Figueiredo, who holds his native Dão and the local terroir in high regard, while simultaneously producing world-class wines. In his wines, wine lovers find the individuality that is often lost in times of increasing globalization of wine taste: authentic, artisanally crafted wines with a radiant regional character, made from indigenous grape varieties in small quantities.

Quint da Falorca is regarded as the undisputed best winery in the Portuguese Daõ, with a beautiful range of wines that are all produced in small quantities only. The T-NAC is made from the typical Portuguese top grape, Touriga Nacional, and comes from 31 different clones of vines over 40 years old.

The grapes were hand-picked, destemmed, and lightly crushed, after which the free-flow juice was fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine then aged for several years in barrel and bottle. The T-Nac has a deep red color and intense aromas of National Touriga, with its famous expression. It has a floral bouquet, an excellent structure with firm and elegant tannins very well balanced with the oak. This is a modern, complex, and intense wine full of ripe fruit, a lively acidity, and a finish that lingers in the mouth.

The wine is only made in good years, and the 2018 is the successor to the fine 2016.

The Wine Advocate writes about this wine: ".......It's a super T-nac now" and writes about Falorca: "One of the region's highest-quality boutiques, this winery produces only about 70,000 bottles per year. I love their structured and expressive reds in particular."

Located in Pindelos or Silgueiros, Quinta da Falorca is the reference model and top wine house from the Portuguese Dão. No volumes but only quality. It is therefore quite difficult to get a Quinta da Falorca and especially their high-end wines. This is due to a number of factors, namely:

  • made in very small quantities
  • and still very affordable
