Description
They are among the secret heroes of the international wine world: winegrowers such as the quality-striving Carlos Figueiredo, who values his native Dão and the local terroir, but at the same time produces world-class wines. In his wines, wine lovers find the individuality that is often lost in times of increasing globalization of wine taste: authentic, traditionally prepared wines with a radiant regional character, made from indigenous grape varieties in a small edition.
Quint da Falorca is seen as the undisputed best winery from the Portuguese Daõ with a beautiful range of wines, all of which are only produced in small quantities. The T-NAC is made from the typical Portuguese top grape, the Touriga Nacional, and comes from 31 different clones of more than 40 years old vines.
The Colheita Seleccionada 2016 Sustainable agriculture comes from the Dao DOC and the 2016 is the first vintage released in mid-2022 from the cellars of Falorca. The wine is a blend of Touriga Nacional 70%, Rufete 10% & Alfrocheiro 20%. The vineyard is south facing at an altitude of 450 m
A few facts and this makes the Dao wines so special. A modest alcohol percentage of 13% and not such a heavy alcohol-driven wine that is too common these days. The wine has a total acidity: 5.73 g/dm3 and a PH of 3.60 - with only residual sugars of 1.1 g/l. All facts that explain the elegance. The grapes were hand-picked, de-stemmed and then gently crushed and stored in stainless steel vats, where fermentation took place in temperature-controlled vats, then matured in 2nd year French oak barrels for 8 months and then back in stainless steel. There are (only) 6,664 bottles made and bottled in July 2021. The Colheita Seleccionada is a rich, elegant and attractive wine with a ruby red color and a lively bouquet of red fruits, very well balanced with spicy aromas that come from the partial aging in oak barrels. It is modern and fresh, full of harmony in the mouth thanks to the balance between acidity, fruit and alcohol and with the elegance of the soft tannins.
All in all, this (new) Colheita Seleccionada from Falorca is a great wine at a great price that can continue to develop nicely in the next 10 years. Under the tab: Appendix you will find the factsheet of these wines. We will send you this automatically after ordering this wine.

Located in Pindelos or Silgueiros, Quinta da Falorca is the reference model and top wine house from the Portuguese Dão. No volumes but only quality. It is therefore quite difficult to get a Quinta da Falorca and especially their high-end wines. This is due to a number of factors, namely:
- unprecedented fine wines
- made in very small quantities
- and still very affordable
