The Vermentino grape, also known as Rolle, is one of the most versatile wine-grape varieties available. This grape is often used in blends, but also as a varietal. The history of Vermentino dates back to the Middle Ages, when the grape was first cultivated in Italy. Specifically, probably in Tuscany. Since then, the Vermentino grape has become one of the most popular grape varieties in the Mediterranean region, where it has also been used in the production of white wines as well as in rosé blends.

What does wine from the Rolle grape taste like?

The Vermentino grape is known for its distinct aromas of citrus fruits, peach, apricot, with a hint of spice as well. The wines produced from this grape have a fresh, mineral taste with a slightly salty undertone. This makes Vermentino wines great for pairing with fish and shellfish dishes.
