Encruzado

The Encruzado comes from the Portuguese wine region of Dão. You don't really come across it elsewhere. The winemakers have their hands full with the Encruzado because it is not an easy grape to make wine from, for example, it oxidizes quickly. Nevertheless, the Encruzado is regarded as the most promising white grape in Dão. This cultivar, which has a moderate production, has a high alcohol content and has the ability to maintain almost a perfect balance between sugars and acidity.

What does wine from the Encruzado grape taste like?

It produces dry, fruity and aromatic wines and is one of Portugal's top white grape varieties. The wine improves if it is placed in new oak barrels and/or in the bottle for 2-3 years. Characterizes delicate aromas of roses and violets, light citrus notes. This grape has extraordinary aging potential.
