With the scarcity but also the high prices in Burgundy, we can certainly advise you to include wines from the Jura and certainly from Henri Maire in your selection. A fraction of the price of a good Burgundy with excellent quality. This Chardonnay from the Côtes du Jura appellation of Domaine Henri Maire has a fresh straw yellow color in the glass. It is a fine and not bombastic Chardonnay with fresh acids and fruit elements such as those of white fruit and yellow apple. The taste is creamy and fresh with a pleasant minerality. Spicy and fresh in style.

Paul Clover Sr. was the first to plant vineyards in this cool area of Elgin, located on the coast, where apple trees and fog still fill the valley. Winemaker Andries Burger and Paul Cluver jr are both obsessed with Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Burgundy and Elgin is one of the best regions to make this high quality. The white wines are very pure and have tension that we mainly encounter in the Old World. The Pinot Noir is one of the best and most affordable examples currently available from this beautiful country. In 2014, the Sauvignon Blanc was voted 'best Sauvignon Blanc under 15 pounds in the world' at the World Wine Awards!

The Paul Cluver Village Chardonnay is a nice cool climate Chardonnay from Elgin. This lightly wood-aged Chardonnay has an expressive nose containing the scents of citrus, green apples and white peach supported by a light touch of wood. In the taste you will find the same notes, supported by fresh acidity and a long finish with a fine minerality.

The Allimant-Laugner Pinot Noir is a beautiful fruity Pinot Noir. The Pinot Noir from Alsace or Alsace comes originally from Burgundy and disappeared in Alsace almost a century ago (apart from a few villages including Saint-Hippolyte where some of the plots of Allimant Laugnier are located). But today it is more popular than its much more expensive neighbor. The Allimant Laugnier Pinot Noir is produced in the Alsatian style, fresher and fruitier than Pinot Noirs from Burgundy, thanks to an average maceration of one week before pressing.
