Bodegas Alvear was founded in 1729, but it has only been since the 19th century that the production of the sweet Pedro Ximénez wines has been started. Until 1900, this was done with so-called vintage wines, which were only made in the very best years. From 1900, these old wines were mixed with younger ones and the soleras were created. The PX 1971 is the successor of the 1927 and is a 'solera wine' for which several vintages have been used, including 1971.
The Pedro Ximénez Solera 1971's fragrance is fantastic with aromas of plums, raisins and chocolate. The taste is full, sweet and very intense with a creamy structure and a very long lasting velvety aftertaste. This is a very exclusive version. only 60 bottles were made and the bottles are all numbered (see picture and 360 degree picture). The wine is in a wooden box.
