2025 Wijngoed Lenoire Vier 't Laeve Wit

Lenoire Vier 't Laeve Wit 2025 undoubtedly belongs to the absolute top of Dutch viticulture. Forget everything you think you know about Dutch white wine. Lenoire wines are not wines made from hybrid grape varieties, but serious terroir wines, crafted from classic Burgundy grapes – even the clones used originate from Burgundy, among other places. All of this is achieved with extremely limited production and an uncompromising approach to the wines, and this applies to the Vier 't Laeve Wit as well. In our opinion, Lenoire wines are the most exclusive white wines in the Netherlands and can rival international top wines in a heartbeat. It is not surprising that, despite their young age, these wines are already found at the top of Dutch gastronomy.

Lenoire Winery

Wijngoed Lenoire is a small-scale, terroir-driven estate on the Rasberg in South Limburg, overlooking the Meuse Valley and Maastricht. On approximately four hectares of calcareous marl soils, exclusively classic grape varieties are cultivated, including Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris. The south-westerly exposure, the favorable microclimate, and the calcareous subsoil result in wines with tension, refinement, and pronounced minerality. Biodiversity is central to the vineyard, with bees and sheep, among others, contributing to a healthy natural balance.

Celebrate Life White

Vier 't Laeve is Limburgish for Celebrate Life and comes in a white wine, a (gastronomic) rosé, and a red version. Vier 't Laeve demonstrates just how high the bar has been set for the absolute top of Dutch wine. The wine is deliberately made in a Burgundian style, where elegance, texture, and terroir expression are more important than primary fruitiness. The result is a gastronomic white wine that can effortlessly hold its own against many renowned white wines.

A characteristic of all Lenoire white wines is that they are given ample time to develop optimally. The focus is not on speed, but on quality. Every white wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation, resulting in extra complexity, creaminess, and length without losing its natural freshness.

Vinification

The grapes are deliberately harvested slightly later to achieve maximum aromatic ripeness and balance. The wine ages partly in stainless steel tanks for freshness and precision, and approximately 50% in used 1,500-liter foudres. These large wooden barrels impart subtle roundness and extra depth, without dominating the fruit or the terroir.

Scent, taste and character

Vier 't Laeve Wit opens with refined aromas of white and yellow stone fruit, fresh citrus, subtle floral notes, and a light minerality. The aging process also imparts delicate nuances of brioche, nuts, and a refined creaminess.

On the palate, the wine is fresh, lively, and elegant, yet simultaneously rich and layered. The combination of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris provides tension, structure, and refinement. Malolactic aging gives the wine a silky texture, while the calcareous soil ensures a long, mineral, and gastronomic finish.

A new standard for Dutch wine

Lenoire proves that the Netherlands is capable of producing wines of international caliber. By working exclusively with classic grape varieties, keeping yields low, and giving each wine ample time to develop character and complexity, a style emerges that is clearly inspired by Burgundy, yet simultaneously possesses its own South Limburg identity.

Due to very limited production, Vier 't Laeve Wit is exclusively available in limited quantities.

Vier 't Laeve Wit is immediately accessible, but will gain even further complexity with a few years of bottle aging.

Preferably serve the wine at 10 to 12°C.
