In Italy, when you say 'wine,' you say 'Antinori'! This family has been making wine for over six centuries. Respecting the traditions of the Tuscan land, 26 consecutive generations of Antinori have been dedicated to this. It is the eye for tradition and innovation that has made the House of Antinori what it is today: the pinnacle of Italy.
Villa Antinori is an important part of the Antinori wine empire, as the name is associated with more than 100 years of history, and the Villa Antinori Rosso and the highly sought-after Villa Antinori Bianco are produced here.
Villa Antinori was originally produced in 1928 by Marchese Niccolò Antinori as a Chianti Classico that could age and improve over time. Shortly thereafter, Villa Antinori became a highly sought-after wine in the most prestigious cellars of embassies, royal houses, major hotels, and restaurants. In 1931, Villa Antinori Bianco was made from traditional Trebbiano grapes. In the 1980s, a small percentage of Chardonnay was added to give the wine better structure.
The 2020 growing season will be remembered as one of the coolest in the past five years at the Tenuta Monteloro estate. Well-distributed rain showers and average temperatures, even slightly below seasonal averages until mid-July. These climatic conditions encouraged slow, normal growth of the vines and promoted an optimal, balanced vegetative cycle. August was warm with scattered rainfall during the last days of the month, guaranteeing temperature fluctuations of approximately 10°C between day and night; this produces a wine elegant with sufficient fruit and acidity. By harvest time in mid-September, Pinot Bianco reached ideal ripeness with an excellent balance between sugar concentrations, acidity, and aromatic components.
The harvested grapes were destemmed and gently pressed. The must was cooled to a temperature of 10 °C (50 °F) to promote natural clarification. After 48 hours, the clarified must was transferred to temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation took place at a temperature not exceeding 16 °C (61 °F). The wine was aged in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 10 °C (50 °F).
Only grapes from the very best Pinot Blanc vineyards on the Monteloro estate, situated in the hills behind Fiesole, are used to produce Villa Antinori. This is one of the historic wines of the Antinori family that has been given a new expression capable of conveying the harmony and sensations of an ancient region known for the production of white wines.
The Villa Antinori Pinot Bianco is straw-yellow in color with greenish hues. On the nose, it is refined and elegant with notes of tropical fruit and hints of bell pepper, a touch of spices, and a hint of citrus. The taste is full and rich with a long, mineral finish.

More information about Antinori
Marquis Piero Antinori is in charge and is assisted by his three daughters: Albiera, Allegra and Alessia. Funny those three A's. We are not going to bother you with all the awards that have been received over the years, because then this price list can no longer go through the letterbox. There are two red wines that are available on allocation and that one would like to get a few bottles from all over the world and that are Tignanello and Solaia and we also have these in our range at Grandcruwijnen.
In 1180, Ugo and Antinori di Rinuccino were officially named as owners of Castello di Combiate; a century later, the family who had moved to Florence were included in the register of the silk trade cooperative. In 1385, Giovanni di Piero, an indirect descendant, entered the wine guild as an apprentice. Since then, the wine-growing tradition of the Antinori family has been continuous. With the establishment of the Marchesi Antinori winery, the peak was reached in 1895 and already in 1898 the winery was built in San Casciano Val di Pesa, which is still the center of the widely branched group of properties in all major cultivation areas of Tuscany, Umbria. , Piemonte (since the early 90s through the purchase of the wine cellar Prunotto), Apulia and even California. The traditional house participating in the modern Tuscan wine-growing revolution owes much of its prestige to its former chief vinologist Giacomo Tachis, who produced exceptional wines such as Sassicaia, Tignanello (especially sangiovese), Solaia (especially cabernet) and many others. the other was responsible. Vinologist Renzo Cotarella also created one of the best chardonnays in Italy in the Umbrian Castello della Sala.
