PRE-SALE OFFER-EXPECTED MAY 2026

Unique & Exclusive to the Netherlands is this fresh Tuscan white wine from Montepulciano, without oak aging, with depth and precision. Only around 5,000-7,500 bottles are produced, and more than 95% of these remain in Tuscany.

Poliziano Winery

Poliziano is one of the leading producers in Montepulciano and is known for its clear, terroir-driven style. The estate combines modern precision with respect for tradition and works with great care in both the vineyard and the cellar. Although Poliziano is primarily known for its red wines, with Ambrae it demonstrates that white wines from this region are also convincing. More information about this winery can be found under the Winery tab.

Origin and terroir

The grapes for Ambrae come from vineyards at an altitude of approximately 350 meters with an eastern exposure. The soils consist of clay and sand, ensuring a good balance between structure and freshness. The relatively warm climate of Tuscany is tempered here by the altitude and location, allowing the grapes to retain their fresh character while developing sufficient ripeness.

Grapes and composition

This wine is a blend of 90% Chardonnay and 10% Roussanne. The Chardonnay provides structure and recognizable fruit notes, while the Roussanne adds extra aromatic complexity and a slightly spicy character.

Vinification and aging

Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of approximately 20 degrees, using selected yeasts. After fermentation, the wine ages in steel for 6 months, followed by another 3 months of bottle aging. Wood is deliberately not used, so that the freshness and purity of the fruit remain central.

Color, smell and taste

In the glass, the wine displays a clear, light golden-yellow color. The nose is fresh and open with notes of citrus, apple, and white flowers, complemented by subtle hints of stone fruit. On the palate, the wine is lively and crisp, with a beautiful balance between freshness and roundness. The influence of Roussanne lends a light spiciness and added depth. The finish is clean and refreshing.

Style and character

Ambrae was made with the idea of being drunk young and fresh, without compromising on depth. The wine combines accessibility with structure and clearly displays the terroir of Poliziano, without the influence of wood.

Volume 2025

The 2025 vintage in Tuscany experienced a balanced growing season with ample sunshine and cool nights. This ensured good ripening of the grapes while retaining fresh acidity. For white wines, this results in a style that is both ripe and energetic, with beautiful aromatic precision.

Food and wine pairings

This wine is versatile at the table. Think of light fish dishes, shellfish, salads, or poultry. It also comes into its own with vegetarian dishes featuring fresh and spicy elements. Serve at around 8 to 10 degrees for optimal expression.

Frederico Carletti, the current owner of Azienda Agricola Poliziano, is responsible for a revolutionary change. Carletti has turned Poliziano into a real wine-producing company, which produces and bottles its own wines. He went to Piemonte to learn the profession of an enologist at the university. He then did internships with various wine producers to gain the necessary practical experience. Then it was time to realize his childhood dream. Since taking office in 1981, the company's star has risen rapidly. His innovations included the planting of new grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as the creation of new wines, such as Le Stanze, Elegia and a Riserva from separate vineyards, such as the Vigna Asinone. With these showpieces, Carletti has won the hearts of wine lovers and has won numerous prizes at international competitions. Poliziano is now widely regarded as one of the great pioneers of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
