Duhart-Milon is one of the most prestigious châteaux in the Pauillac appellation. In 1855, the château was included in the famous classification of Médoc wines. The château is now part of the Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) group. The history of Château Duhart Milon dates back to the early 18th century, when the owner of Château Lafite, Marquis Nicolas-Alexandre de Ségur, used the wines of Milon as his 'second wine'. Around 1840, the château, by then called Duhart-Milon, already possessed 40 hectares of vineyards of the highest quality. After a difficult period in the middle of the last century, Duhart-Milon became the property of the Rothschild family. A new period of great prosperity dawned.
Duhart-Milon Rothschild Bordeaux Blanc, or Le Blanc de Duhart-Milon, is produced on plots on the east side of the estate, towards Anseillan, where neighboring plots belonging to Lafite and Duhart are also used for red wine.
Thanks to a careful selection of Sauvignon and Sémillon clones, the grape varieties are optimally matched to the character of the soil. The proximity of the Gironde estuary and the geological diversity – with soils from both the Massif Central and the Pyrenees – create exceptional conditions for viticulture in Pauillac, north of Bordeaux.
The grapes are hand-picked in small crates and carefully sorted. After cold pressing, the must is fermented in French oak barrels, crafted by the Domaines' own Tonnellerie des Domaines in Pauillac – the same one that makes the barrels for Château Rieussec. The proportion of new wood is adjusted annually but never exceeds 60%. The wine then ages for approximately 8 months on the fine lees in these barrels. This method lends Le Blanc de Duhart-Milon its aging potential without losing its freshness. The 2024 is a blend of 62% Sémillon, 35% Sauvignon Blanc, and 3% Sauvignon Gris.
The color of the Le Blanc de Duhart-Milon is pale gold with deep yellow reflections. The nose is initially closed but opens up with aromas of acacia blossom and citrus, subtly supported by elegant toast notes. Hints of flint add a mineral dimension. On the palate, the wine starts with striking freshness, after which it gains volume and depth. Lychee, grapefruit, and white peach come to the fore, framed by a subtle touch of oak. The finish is long and refined, with delicate bitterness that provides balance and elegance.

1. Fried cod with lemon butter and steamed broccoli
The lemon butter mirrors the fresh acidity in the wine, while the mild flavor of the cod beautifully brings out the subtle use of wood and the structure of the wine.
2. Grilled chicken breast with tarragon cream sauce and baby potatoes
The creamy sauce forms a bridge to the roundness of the wine, while tarragon and chicken enhance the floral and spicy notes in the wine.
3. Salad with goat cheese, green apple and walnuts
The combination of freshness, soft acidity, and texture in this dish pairs well with the lively style of the wine. The apple underscores the citrus character, and the walnuts add depth.
4. Tagliatelle with fennel, lemon zest, and grated Parmesan
Fennel and lemon bring out the fresh and mineral profile of the wine, while Parmesan provides umami that rounds it off.
5. Langoustine with cauliflower cream and a hint of vanilla
The soft texture of the langoustine pairs perfectly with the elegance of the wine, while cauliflower and a subtle touch of vanilla emphasize the refined influence of the wood.
6. Veal tartare with capers, citrus peel and tarragon oil
A light, fresh preparation in which the citrus aromas and herbs in the dish enhance the fruity and floral profile of the wine. The texture of the veal complements the mouthfeel of the wine.

A blend of 68% Sémillon, 31% Sauvignon Blanc and 1% Sauvignon Gris, the 2025 Le Blanc de Duhart-Milon offers up aromas of confit citrus, white fruits and lemon verbena. Medium-bodied and juicy, it’s built around a tensile profile with a lively core of fruit, concluding with a long, citrus-inflected finish. Around 10% underwent malolactic fermentation.

From: Hot Body, Cold Blood: 2025 Bordeaux En Primeur (May 2026)
The 2025 Le Blanc de Duhart-Milon constitutes the fifth vintage from regrafted vines on cooler, late-ripening limestone soils, mainly Sémillon with 15% malo. It has a well-defined bouquet, perhaps more primal than previous vintages at this stage, leesy with touches of apple blossom. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, bright acids, again, a little more lees than before, but that leads to a complex, stem ginger tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. Very fine.
- By Neal Martin on May 2026
Not so long ago, Duhart-Milon was known for its backward nature and often demanded at least a decade before it approached drinkability. Winemaker Eric Kohler now fashions a more approachable Duhart-Milon without sacrificing its DNA. “I have almost never produced a wine with such low alcohol,” he told me.
