New Chapter is part of LENZMARK WINES and is a collaboration between two renowned winemakers: Markus Huber & Lenz Moser, with the clear goal of promoting Grüner Veltliner worldwide. Fortunately, Grüner is already well-known and appreciated in the Benelux region! The family estate of Markus Huber, the 10th generation, is located in Traisental, an hour's drive west of Vienna, in the heart of the Grüner region. The estate is 100% organic, 60 hectares in size, and 70% is planted with Grüner Veltliner. Markus is THE specialist and has been crowned the best winemaker of the year in Austria. The wine is a blend of Markus's best vineyards from the Traisental region, and the idea is to create a white wine that can compete with the best wines in the world, in a style that is powerful but not opulent, and with a focus on elegance. They call this a Gruner Veltliner made with a Burgundy style. So freshness, elegance but with finesse and long aging through maturation in wood

The Gruner Veltliner grapes come from a vineyard located on limestone with a clay covering. The bunches are destemmed, aged for eight hours, and then cold-soaked. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, with yeast contact until bottling, after which the wine matures/ages in barriques (225 liters) and larger oak barrels. In the glass, the New Chapter is a clear, light yellow and boasts fantastic values, including a low alcohol content of 13%, only 2.5 g/l of residual sugar, and a pleasant pH of 3.3. The nose evokes Austrian hills with soft, slightly smoky herbs, a hint of apple, guava, mango, and abundant yellow fruit. On the palate, complex, elegant aromas of yellow pear and minerality (chalk, gravel) finish with a spicy and lingering finish.

FACT: In the tab: Attachment, you'll find the official fact sheet for this fine wine. We'll automatically send it to you when you order this wine. The wine is stored in our climate-controlled Wine Warehouse, and if you pick it up, you'll also receive a nice discount.

The wine saw its debut with the 2020 vintage and is receiving unanimously fantastic reviews. This " Bourgogne Gruner Veltliner " is unique and perfect for lovers of a refined, gourmet white wine. Bottle necks | MORTEN WAMSLER | 97 pts

James Suckling (95/100): "...This white-Bordeaux-inspired wine shows a compelling harmony of bright orchard fruit, primarily apples and peaches, with fine tannins and subtle wood tones of toast and vanilla. The medium-bodied palate is impeccably balanced, the freshness illuminating the pronounced stony minerality in the very long, complete finish"

Markus Huber and Lenz Moser are united in their goal to bring Gruener Veltliner to the world as Austria's preeminent and ambassador grape variety. Both partners have learned that you have to fight for the region, for the category, in addition to working for your own company. They know that it always takes a higher cause to be successful.

The goal of Markus and Lenz is now to create a new Gruener Veltliner to be brought to the entire wine-loving world (including outside the German-speaking world ;-). Their clear goal is to help and develop this grape into a global ambassador for top Austrian winemaking.

Lenz & Markus have lived and breathed Gruener their entire lives. When they decided to start this exciting new project (NEW CHAPTER), they set out on a mission to improve this Austrian treasure to make it even more delicate for the international market and make this naturally top grape just another Burgundy. to give style upbringing, so a longer maturation, partly in wood, but while retaining the naturally spicy tones and good acidity.

The family estate of Markus Huber, 10th generation, is located in Traisental, an hour's drive west of Vienna, in the heart of the Grüner region. The estate is 100% organic, 60 hectares in size and 70% planted with Grüner Veltliner. Markus is THE specialist and awarded best winemaker of the year in Austria. The wine is a blend of Markus' best vineyards of the Traisental region, and the idea is to create a white wine that can compete with the best wines in the world, in a style that is powerful but not opulent and with a focus on elegance.
