Description
Eve and Michel Rey jointly run this small estate in the beautiful village of Vergisson, nestled between the Roche de Vergisson and the Roche de Solutré. They handle all the cellar and vineyard work themselves, so they know every vine. Michel is an exceptionally eager winemaker, and Eve is a true perfectionist. This is likely why the wines from this relatively young estate have improved significantly in recent years. No insecticides or pesticides are used, the soil is cultivated year-round with respect for nature, and the grapes are harvested by hand, with the grapes transported in small crates. What delicious, young-drinking wines for this price!
Eve and Michel Rey care for their vines as naturally as possible, and because they have so few vineyards, they can tend all their vines by hand. They use only organic treatments, if any are necessary, and plow the soil instead of using herbicides.
Grapes are crushed whole bunches in a gentle pneumatic press and fermented with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Wines are aged for at least 10 months in primarily used French oak barrels. Very little sulfur is added at any stage; wines are bottled unfiltered.
The ripest Chardonnays in Burgundy come from the region near Mâcon, in southern Burgundy. Pouilly-Fuissé is one of those villages that produces magnificent Chardonnays. The Pouilly Fuisse En Carmentrant is a 100% Chardonnay and has a light straw-yellow color in the glass. The nose is characterized by fresh citrus aromas and a light buttery note. On the palate, minerality predominates, with refined acidity and a good finish. This wine has a beautiful balance between ripeness and freshness. So you smell and taste fresh citrus fruits, but also a light buttery note, which can make fine Chardonnays so irresistible. The Pouilly Fuisse En Carmentrant is a freshest style of Burgundy with plenty of minerality.

Wijnhuis
Domaine Michel Rey is a small domaine in Vergisson where organic work is done. Eve and Michel Rey run this small domaine together in the beautiful village of Vergisson between the Roche de Vergisson and the Roche de Solutré. They do all the work in the cellar and the vineyard themselves and therefore know every vine. As a winemaker, Michel is extremely eager to learn and Eve is a huge perfectionist. That is probably why the wines of this relatively young winery have improved considerably in recent years. No insecticides or pesticides are used, the soil is worked all year round with respect for nature and the grapes are picked by hand and transported in small boxes. The price / quality is very good for their entire range.
The vineyards are sandwiched between two gigantic rocks: Roche de Vergisson and the famous Roche de Solutré. Eve comes from an old winemaking family in Julienas (Beaujolais), where they also own 1 hectare of vineyard. She does everything together with her husband Michel, who learned the trade from his father-in-law. As a winemaker, he is extremely eager to learn. He is one of the fast rising stars of the Maconnais. Although Michel will be the last to admit that and fortunately that is also reflected in the price. He prefers to work all day in the vineyards.
