Description

Château Rauzan-Ségla has a long and storied history dating back to the 17th century. The estate was originally part of the larger Rauzan estate, which was split into four separate properties in 1762. The portion that would become Rauzan-Ségla was acquired by Nicolas-Alexandre de Ségla, and the estate has borne his name ever since. Over the years, the property has changed hands several times and has experienced periods of prosperity and decline. In the late 19th century, the estate was owned by the Frey family. However, like many properties in Bordeaux, it faced challenges during the phylloxera and economic downturn. In 1994, Château Rauzan-Ségla was purchased by the Wertheimer family, who also own the famous luxury goods company Chanel. The Wertheimers have invested in the estate and worked to restore its reputation for producing high-quality wines.
The 2024 Rauzan-Ségla is magnificent. One of the absolute top wines of the Left Bank, Rauzan-Ségla has an impressive textural density and stunning balance. Dark fruit, lavender, spices, licorice and new leather come together in a powerful, layered Margaux that excels in harmony and incredible purity. At this stage, Rauzan-Ségla is one of the wines of the year in Bordeaux. Elegant yet powerful.

A blend of 63.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot and 0.5% Cabernet Franc, the 2024 Rauzan-Ségla offers up aromas of minty cassis, pencil shavings and cigar wrapper, followed by a medium-bodied, soft and pillowy palate that's supple and open-knit, concluding with a melting, discreetly herbal finish.
