Description
EN PRIMEUR DISCOUNT VALID UNTIL 31/12/2025 - DELIVERY SPRING 2027
L'Eglise Clinet has impressive concentration for the vintage, with dusty tannins giving it density and intensity. Medium bodied, with notes of dark fruit and chocolate, plus hints of walnut and hazelnut. Juicy and full-bodied, but always with restraint. Winemaker Noémie Durantou Reilhac compares it to the 2015, but with more finesse. 90% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc. According to Jane Aneson, this is the red wine of the 2024 vintage.
ABOUT L'EGLISE CLINET
L'Eglise Clinet is a prestigious winery in the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux, France. It is known for producing some of the most sought after and highly regarded wines in the world. L'Eglise Clinet's vineyards cover approximately 4.2 hectares and are situated on the famous clay and gravel soils of Pomerol. These soils are ideal for growing Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the estate's main grape varieties. It is also relevant to note that L'Eglise Clinet's vineyards border those of Chateau Petrus so where L'Eglise Clinet stops, Petrus begins. L'Eglise Clinet is located in the heart of Pomerol, a small but highly renowned wine region on the right bank of the Dordogne River. The winery has a rich history dating back to the 19th century. The vineyard was formed in its current form in the mid-20th century by the Mauléon and Rouchut families.

The 2023 L'Eglise Clinet unwinds in the glass with brooding aromas of dark berries and cherries mingled with baking chocolate, pipe tobacco and toasty new oak. Full-bodied, layered and muscular, with a sweet core of fruit framed by rich, powdery, generously extracted tannin, it's broad-shouldered and powerful, concluding with a long, expansive finish. It's a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc that checks in at 14.6% alcohol.

James Suckling
James Suckling 97-98/100 : “Really impressive concentration for the vintage with dusty tannins that give density and intensity. Medium-bodied, this shows dark fruit and chocolate plus walnut and hazelnut undertones. Juicy and flavorful but always in reserve. Winemaker Noemie Durantou Reilhac likens it to the 2015 but with finesse. 90% merlot and the rest cabernet franc”.

Vinous
Antonio Galloni – Vinous 95-97/100 : “The 2024 L'Eglise-Clinet is brilliant and intensely aromatic in its first impression. Vibrant red-toned fruit, blood orange, cinnamon, cedar and rose petal soar from the glass. Readers will find a vertical, explosive L'Eglise-Clinet that impresses with its poise and balance. The 2024 deftly marries finesse and power to a degree I have seldom seen here in the past. Superb. 2034 - 2054”.

97/100
Jane Anson 97/100 : “Elegant, slow unrolling of black fruit flavours, beautiful precision, get a lot of fennel here, even a touch of marzipan, coffee grounds, savoury and juicy, black fruits, cassis and blueberry, violets, powdery rose petals. This is just exceptional within the vintage, such a deeply felt and deeply chiselled wine, and I can unhesitatingly recommend. No chaptilisation, 3.59ph, 85% new oak. Harvest September 21 to 28, 45hl/h yield, Noëmie Durantou winemaker and co-owner. Clearly will age with elegance and finesse. Red wine of the vintage for me”.
