Description
Laura Catena – daughter of the famous wine pioneer Nicolas Catena - set up the La Posta wine series to give the smaller winegrowers of Mendoza their own stage, instead of a nameless spot in the local cooperative. The wines are called La Posta, after the typical local pub that you can find everywhere here on the side of the road.
Domingo Fazzio, also known as the dancing farmer who loves women, is the 3rd generation. His Italian grandfather traveled to Argentina in 1917 for a better life. Domingo expanded the family business in 2005 and bought 100 hectares of land in Tupungato, where this wine comes from. He named it 'El Nuño Francisco' to honor his father. The soil consists of loamy soil, with chalky stony subsoil, good for root development and good drainage. The vineyard in the Uco Valley, is ideally located at an altitude of 1100 meters, on the Tunas river, from which the irrigation water comes. Due to the high location of the vineyard, it is a delicious intense malbec. The wine matures for a year in 2/3 years used French oak barrels, the other part in stainless steel tanks. That rounds off this wine beautifully, and produces a delicious, generous and complex red wine.
Due to the high altitude of the vineyard it is a wonderfully intense Malbec. The La Posta Fazzio Malbec (Domingo Fazzio) has concentrated black fruit, with vanilla, toast, balsamic, the taste is ripe and peppery, powerful and intense, with good acids due to the altitude. Powerful and intense red wine. Delicious with merguez sausages, ribeye from the grill, lamb roulade with rosemary, mature cheeses.

The varietal 2021 Fazzio Malbec has an extra degree of freshness, depth and complexity, reflecting a cooler year in a cooler place, with violet and raspberry aromas and a medium-bodied palate with balance, freshness and very good acidity. It's a pure and direct high-altitude Malbec.

From: The Uco Valley: Where Diverse Terroirs Work Their Magic (Sep 2023)
The 2022 Malbec La Posta Fazzio comes from Tupungato in the Uco Valley and was 50% aged in second-use oak barrels and 50% in stainless steel tanks. Purple in hue. The fruit-forward nose displays crushed plum, redcurrant and subtle oak undertones. It's pretty indulgent and juicy, with smooth tannins and a velvety mouthfeel. The finish has a gummy, mouthwatering character.

In the Argentinian tradition, La Posta is a tavern where the (wine) farmers come together for a glass of wine, to share stories about the harvest and of course for their daily siesta. Each La Posta label illustrates a story of these individual families. One sip full of flavor and you will welcome these breeders into your own family, into your glass and into your heart.
Angel Paulucci, from car mechanic to owner of a vineyard.
The Pizzella Family, for the love of nature, these two teachers have left town.
Domingo Fazzio, the dancing winegrower who loves women.
Estela Armando, from Italy to share wine with the trans-European railway workers
