Description
Located in Meursault, this magnificent family estate has been passed down through generations since the 17th century. Today, Charles Ballot is at the helm. The young Charles Ballot took over the estate from his father, Philippe, in 2000. His estate comprises approximately 30 hectares. Primarily Chardonnay from the finest terroirs of Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachtet, but also Pinot Noir from Pommard, Volnay, and Chassagne. Charles Ballot is now among the absolute top in his region. Tradition and innovation are key here. Charles respects the terroir, prunes for lower yields, and cherishes his old vines. He also invests in modern techniques and equipment to ensure the very best quality. He works according to traditional methods, such as full fermentation in oak and low yields. In the cellar, he opts for a gentle, slow pressing and slow vinification. All his wines undergo full fermentation and are aged in oak for 12 months. He uses mostly old barrels, one or two years old. He's now on the path to fully organic cultivation.
The Ballot-Millot Bourgogne Chardonnay is a magnificent Burgundy with the signature of a Meursault! It originates from plots in Meursault (located right next to Meursault 1er cru Charmes) in chalky soil. A very rich, creamy, full-bodied Chardonnay with notes of almond and gingerbread. This wine has been slightly aged in barrels, giving it a radiant minerality and acidity. A very pure wine made with a clear Ballot signature.
