Behind every great wine lies a great terroir. This is certainly true of Château Palmer, situated on a long strip of land between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gironde estuary. The land is well-drained, rich in sediments from the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, yet cleansed of organic matter. It's challenging soil for agriculture, but exceptional for grape growing. Naturally, the vines also require proper care to perform optimally. And the Château Palmer team is certainly entrusted with this! With passion and love for the vines, they cultivate this demanding terroir. The men and women of this winery are more than just colleagues. Together, they embrace the shared core values of Château Palmer and are therefore exceptionally dynamic, curious, passionate, open-minded, and determined. In short, they live for and with the vineyards.

The 2023 Palmer Alter Ego from Château Palmer in the Margaux region is blended from 43% Merlot, 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Petit Verdot. The Alter Ego is a deep garnet-purple color and emerges from the glass with vibrant black raspberries, black cherries, and crushed black currants, plus hints of black and white pepper, menthol, lead pencil, and cardamom. Medium-bodied, it is very elegant for a Margaux. The palate is energetic, with expressive, bright black fruit and firm, fine-grained tannins, finishing long and vibrantly. It certainly doesn't need as many years as its older sibling before it reaches peak drinking age and can certainly be cellared until 2048.
