Winery Château Dereszla
Château Dereszla is located in the heart of Tokaj-Hegyalja and has a history dating back to the 18th century. The estate combines modern winemaking techniques with respect for tradition and terroir. The cellars have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition to the well-known sweet Aszú wines, the house also produces dry wines that showcase the character of the region in a pure way.
Region, climate and location
Tokaj-Hegyalja is located in northeastern Hungary and is surrounded by the Carpathians. This creates a unique microclimate with warm late summers and cool, humid nights. The volcanic soils, rich in loam and iron, contribute to the characteristic minerality and complexity of the wines.
Vineyards and grape varieties
The 2023 Tokaji Dry is a blend of Furmint, Hárslevelű, and Kabar. Furmint provides structure and fresh acidity, while Hárslevelű and Kabar add extra aromatic complexity and roundness.
Harvest, vinification and aging
The grapes are carefully harvested and vinified with a focus on balance. A small portion of the Furmint ages in oak for extra roundness, while the majority remains in stainless steel tanks to preserve its fresh character.
Color, smell and taste
Clear light yellow in the glass. On the nose, aromas of ripe pear, citrus, and a light touch of honey. On the palate, round and aromatic, with fresh acidity and distinct minerality. The finish is fresh and elegant with a beautiful length.
Development and drinking window
Ready to drink now and best enjoyed between 2024 and 2028, during which time the wine retains its fresh and aromatic character.
Summary of professional reviews
A fresh, aromatic, and accessible Tokaji Dry with a good balance between fruit, tension, and minerality. Versatile for gastronomy and typical of the region.
