Description
Misty Cove is the relatively young wine company of winemaker Andrew Bailey and his Dutch wife Marieke. The grapes come from the best vineyards of Marlborough and Central Otago, which Andrew partly owns. Misty Cove makes pure and especially characteristic wines from these that have already distinguished themselves at a large number of competitions. The company has a great affinity with sustainability. Because Andrew is regularly in our country with his Dutch wife, his wines have now become very well-known in restaurants and wine shops such as Grandcruwijnen.
Not only the Austrians know what to do with Grüner Veltliner. This New Zealand wine is lively and a real seducer. This is not only due to a thick concentration of sultry fruit (pear, tropical), but also due to the presence of exciting spices. Soft, spicy and with depth. This is a delicious wine to snack with or to dine with. For example with dishes that contain fruit: kuluyuk with pineapple or a meal salad with peach and pear. Goes well with: oriental dishes, chicken, salads. In general: the more spice and flavor in your dish, the better this Grüner goes.
Wine Orbit: 94 points (5 Stars) - 2021 Vintage
"It's gorgeously ripe and perfumed on the nose showing apricot, rockmelon, citrus peel and subtle spice notes, followed by a succulent palate delivering excellent fruit intensity and persistence. Generously textured and brilliantly structured with plenty of tasty flavors"

"Bright and pristine, the wine shows apricot, fresh fig, lemon zest and floral characters on the nose with a touch of spice. It’s succulent and flavoursome on the palate, delivering juicy fruit intensity backed by crisp acidity, finishing long and very tasty. A gorgeous expression of the variety.
At its best: now to 2024."

"Crisp, dry Grüner Veltliner from the Fareham Lane vineyard, with typical white pepper, mandarin blossom, and oyster-shell flavours. Quite a weighty, fleshy wine with refreshing acidity. Great with most seafood dishes."

Thankfully, we are bloody phenomenal at giving you both."
